The Fonds national d'art contemporain (Fnac)

The Fonds national d'art contemporain (Fnac) is the most important international collection of contemporary art in France. The collection has been built up since two centuries through purchases and commissions from the State to working artists. It gathers about 70 000 works belonging to visual arts and photography as well as to decorative arts and design. The Fnac is settled in a 4500 m2 building located under the esplanade de la Défense in Puteaux. The works aren't exhibited in this space; they are exclusively intended for deposit in museums and administrations or lent for exhibitions in France and abroad.

The Fonds national d'Art Contemporain is under supervision of the Delegation aux Arts Plastiques (Dap) of the French ministry of Culture.
